This "data publishing tool" was created through MIT's Simile Project (http://www.simile-widgets.org/exhibit3/ExhibitPR.pdf). Cultural centers, libraries and institutions that handle large amounts of information can import data from spreadsheets into a web-based application (called Babel) that converts the text into to an html file that can be edited. A text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit is needed to add code that is written in JavaScript (JSON) to create online data visualizations.
