The Levels of Born-Digital Access provide a set of format-agnostic baseline practices for born-digital access, laying out concrete and actionable recommendations that individual institutions can consider implementing according to their needs, resources, and abilities.

The levels address issues relating to five areas:

  • Accessibility
  • Description
  • Researcher Support and Discovery
  • Security
  • Tools

For each area, three levels are described, with actions for each as well as resources, examples, and tips.

The Levels were developed by the Born-Digital Access Working Group of the Digital Library Federation (DLF) - https://www.diglib.org/.
